Cumulative update package 5 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2가 지난 2008년 1월 30일에 릴리즈되었다. 이 Cumulative update의 경우, 새로운 Service Pack을 릴리즈하기 이전에 발표되는 업데이트 패키지 성격을 갖고 있다. 일종의 hotfix 모음이긴 하지만 microsoft가 공식적으로 지원하는 업데이트 패키지가 아니라는 점이 Service Pack과의 차이점이라 할 수 있겠다.
